Press Start and answer as many as you can in 60 seconds.

How to play

  1. Press Start. The 60-second clock begins right away.
  2. Type the answer with the keypad or your keyboard. A correct answer moves on by itself.
  3. If you are stuck, type a guess and press OK. It counts as wrong, and the right answer shows for a second before the next problem.
  4. Your score is how many you got right before time ran out.

About this game

Mental Math Sprint is a one-minute dash through quick sums. The first problems are small additions and subtractions. After every five correct answers the numbers get bigger, and from the second level multiplication joins in. There are six levels in all, so even long runs stay within reach.

You never need to press Enter for a right answer. As soon as the digits you typed match the answer, the next problem appears. If you type something wrong, press OK to give up on that problem; it counts as a miss, the right answer shows for one second, and then a new one appears. Answers are always whole numbers of zero or more, so there are no negatives or decimals to worry about.

On a phone, use the keypad under the problem so the screen stays clear. On a computer, just type with the number keys. Full-width digits from Chinese or Japanese keyboards work too. Your best score is saved in this browser.

A few tricks help. Add tens first, then ones. For subtraction, count up from the smaller number. For times tables you are unsure of, double a fact you know: six times eight is double three times eight.

What this does not measure

This is a game for practice and fun, not a math assessment or school grade, and it does not measure intelligence. Typing speed and the device you use affect the score.
