How to play

  1. Tap any cell to start. Your first tap is always safe.
  2. A number shows how many of the eight surrounding cells hide a mine.
  3. Switch to flag mode, or long-press, to mark a cell you think is a mine.
  4. Open every safe cell to win. Opening a mine ends the game.

About this game

Mini Mines is a small, quick take on the classic hidden-mine puzzle. The field is eight by eight with ten mines. Mines are placed only after your first tap, never on that cell or right next to it, so every game starts with a safe opening that usually clears a patch of the board.

Each opened cell shows how many of its eight neighbours are mines. An empty cell means none, and the game opens all of its neighbours for you. From those numbers you work out which closed cells must be safe and which must be mines.

Flags are only reminders: they do not count toward winning, and you can remove them. On a phone, use the dig and flag switch under the board, or press and hold a cell to flag it. On a computer, right-click also flags. Your fastest win is saved in this browser.

Look for a 1 that touches exactly one closed cell: that cell is a mine. Once a number's mines are all flagged, every other closed cell around it is safe.

What this does not measure

This is a logic puzzle for fun, not an IQ test or any kind of assessment. Some boards need a guess near the end; that is part of the classic game, not a mistake.
