About this game
Tap Rhythm plays a steady pulse at one hundred beats per minute, a little faster than one beat every half second. After a count-in of four, sixteen beats follow, and your job is to tap the pad exactly on each one. The pad flashes on every beat, the row of squares fills in as the beats go by, and a short click marks each beat if sound is on.
Every tap is paired with the nearest beat. Within fifty milliseconds counts as Perfect, within a hundred and ten as Good, and anything up to half a beat away as OK. A beat with no tap is a Miss, and a tap that lands on no beat at all is an extra tap. Perfect is worth three points, Good two, and OK one, so a flawless run scores forty-eight.
After the run you also see your average distance from the beat and whether you tend to tap early or late. Many people rush a little. If the result says you are early, try waiting for the click instead of predicting it. Your best score is saved in this browser.
Wireless headphones and some speakers add a small delay to the sound. If your results lean late with sound on, try the phone speaker or turn sound off and follow the flashing pad.
What this does not measure
This is a game, not a test of musical talent, hearing, or coordination. Audio and screen delay differ between devices, so scores are not comparable across phones, computers, or headphones.
