How to play

  1. Each round shows a target, such as 5 seconds. Press Start.
  2. The clock is visible for the first second, then it hides.
  3. Press Stop when you think the target time has passed.
  4. Five rounds per game. Your score is the average distance from the target.

About this game

Time Sense asks one simple question: how long is five seconds? A clock starts counting, shows itself for one second, and then disappears. From there you count in your head and press Stop when you think the target has arrived. The game then reveals the real time and how far off you were.

Targets change from round to round, from three seconds up to seven, so you cannot just repeat the same rhythm. Each stop is graded: within fifty milliseconds is Perfect, within a hundred and fifty is Great, and within four hundred is Good. After five rounds you get your average distance from the target, and your best average is saved in this browser.

People use different tricks. Some count one-thousand, two-thousand. Some tap a foot. Some picture a second hand sweeping around a clock face. A few find they are steadier when they stop thinking about it at all.

You will probably notice a habit: many players run a little early on short targets and a little late on long ones.

What this does not measure

This game is for fun. It does not measure attention, intelligence, or any health condition. Screen and touch delay add a little to every stop.
