Press Start: same shape, or mirror image?

How to play

  1. Press Start. Two shapes made of cubes appear side by side, each turned a different way.
  2. Decide whether the right shape is the same as the left one, only turned, or its mirror image.
  3. Drag to turn both shapes together and look from other angles.
  4. After you answer, the right shape turns to face the same way as the left, so you can check. Twelve rounds.

About this game

Twin Shapes is about turning things in your head. Each round shows two bendy shapes built from five to seven cubes. They are always the same set of cubes, joined the same way, but sometimes the right one is a mirror image, like a left glove next to a right glove. No amount of turning makes a mirror image match.

Every shape in the game is checked against all twenty-four ways a cube can be turned, so it never matches its own mirror image. That means there is always exactly one right answer.

Try finding one easy feature first, such as the end of a long arm, in both shapes. Then follow the cubes from there and see whether the next bend goes the same way. Dragging turns both shapes by the same amount, so it does not change the answer.

After each answer, the right shape slowly turns to face the same way as the left one, which makes the difference easy to see. Your score is the number of right answers out of twelve, with your total time shown too. Your best score is saved in this browser.
