How to play
- Pick a lot, or press Start to continue.
- Drag a car to slide it. Cars only move forward and backward along their own lane, never sideways.
- Clear a path so the red car can drive out through the gap on the right.
- A slide of any distance counts as one move. Try to match the par; Undo, Hint, and Restart are there if you need them.
About this game
Parking Escape is a sliding puzzle set in a crowded car park. The lot is six bays by six, cars and vans are parked in every direction, and the red car needs to get out through the exit in the right-hand wall. The trouble is that the cars in its way are boxed in by other cars.
Every car moves only along its own length: a car parked across the lot slides left and right, and one parked up and down slides up and down. Nothing turns, and nothing jumps over anything else. Drag a car and it follows your finger along its lane until it meets another car or a wall, and it settles into the nearest bay when you let go.
Most lots are a chain of small problems. To free the red car you have to move a van, but the van is blocked by two cars, and one of those can only move once something else has shifted. Working backwards from the exit, asking what is in the way and what is in the way of that, is usually the fastest route.
The twelve lots were made for this game: cars were placed at random, and only lots whose shortest solution has the right length were kept, from three moves up to twenty-six. A test solves every lot again to check its par. Lots unlock in order, and your best move count for each one is saved in this browser.
What this does not measure
This is a puzzle for fun. It does not measure intelligence or spatial ability, and taking more moves than par says nothing about you.
